Joaquín Archivaldo Guzmán Loera, also known as "El Chapo," was a Mexican drug lord and former leader of the Sinaloa cartel, one of the most powerful and influential criminal organizations in the world. He was born in 1957 in the rural village of La Tuna, Sinaloa, Mexico.
